How they compare
Which one suits you, and why.
If you are in the UK looking abroad
Rightmove is the UK property portal for homes to buy and rent, and it has an overseas section that features homes in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and Greece and lists many more countries. That sits alongside its UK listings, sold house prices and an instant online valuation, so you can stay on a site you may already use. It is free to search, on the web and in a free UK App Store app.
The cost is depth. The overseas section lists dozens of European countries, but we did not check how many homes each one has, and its best tools, such as sold prices and valuations, are for the UK.
If you want Spain, Italy or Portugal
idealista is a portal for buying, selling and renting property in Spain, Italy and Portugal. One app covers all three countries, with a draw-your-area map search and shared favourites lists, which helps if you are searching with someone else. It says it has over a million listings. Its app is free on the UK App Store.
What you give up is range: three countries only. Its website blocked our check, so what we say here comes from its app listing.
If you are moving to Germany
ImmoScout24 is a German property portal for renting, buying, shared flats and investing. It calls itself Germany's No. 1 real estate app with the largest selection of listings, and it has an official SCHUFA credit check in the app. The app is free on the UK App Store, and the credit check is an in-app purchase listed at £24.99.
The catch is that it is Germany only, and its credit check is a German SCHUFA check.
If you want a price estimate
SeLoger is a French portal to rent, buy or advertise apartments, houses, flatshares and garages. It lets you compare prices and get free property valuations, with saved-search alerts that tell you when new listings appear. That is the nearest thing here to a Zillow-style estimate, alongside Rightmove's instant online valuation and sold house prices in the UK.
It is France only, and its website blocked our check, so what we say comes from its app listing.
If you are moving to the Netherlands
Funda is the Dutch portal for homes to buy, rent and new builds, with photos, 360 photos, videos and floor plans. It has a map preview and a view of which homes you have already looked at, which saves going over the same listing twice. Its app is free on the UK App Store.
Once you've found a Funda listing you like, the floor plan is usually the next thing you want to play with, and that's where it gets interesting. There's a whole other question about whether an AI can draw floor plans for you, and the answer is only partly. It covers which tools generate layouts, which ones turn an existing plan into something editable, and why a professional should still check the design before you build.
The trade is language. Its app listing is written in Dutch, so non-Dutch speakers may need a translator, and its website showed us a human check rather than the page.
When paying is worth it
For someone looking for a home, it mostly is not. Searching these portals is free, and all five apps are free on the UK App Store. The exception we found is ImmoScout24's SCHUFA credit check, an in-app purchase listed at £24.99. Paid products for sellers and agents listing property we did not check.
The trade-off across all of them is the same: each portal covers one country or a few. idealista covers Spain, Italy and Portugal, while ImmoScout24, SeLoger and Funda each cover one country. You get a proper local tool, but you cannot carry it across a border.
There is some overlap worth knowing about. Immobiliare.it overlaps idealista in Italy and Spain, so it is worth checking both there.
What to watch for
The catches worth knowing first.
Rightmove's overseas section lists dozens of European countries, but we did not check how many homes each one has. A long country list may not mean much stock, so compare it with the local portal before you rely on it.
Then there are the big claims. ImmoScout24's claims of being Germany's No. 1 and largest are its own, and idealista's claim of over a million listings is its own, made on its app listing. We did not compare listing counts, so treat both as the companies talking about themselves.
Several of these websites would not let us read them, so for idealista, ImmoScout24 and SeLoger, our facts come from their app listings. If something matters to your move, check it on the portal itself.

How we checked
What we read, and what we haven't tested yet.
On 2026-10-02 we read Rightmove's homepage and overseas page, and the UK App Store listings for Rightmove, idealista, ImmoScout24, SeLoger, Funda and Immobiliare.it. The idealista, SeLoger, Zoopla and ImmoScout24 websites blocked our requests, and Funda's showed a human check, so most facts come from the app listings. We did not compare listing counts. Nothing was tested hands-on.
If none of these fit
The manual way.
For Italy and Spain, Immobiliare.it and its Indomio app list homes for sale and rent in cities and small towns, with alerts for new listings or price changes.
Otherwise, search the main portal of the country you are moving to, one country at a time.
