# Is there an app that pays you to walk?

**Answer: partly.** Partly. Winwalk pays in gift cards and WeWard lists cash, gifts and donations, while Sweatcoin pays in an in-app currency and says you cannot cash it out to PayPal or a bank. (Source: [Sweatcoin help: cashing out sweatcoins](https://help.sweatco.in/hc/en-us/articles/360012672952-Can-I-Cashout-my-Sweatcoins-to-Paypal-Bank-Account))

Partly. Winwalk pays in gift cards and WeWard lists cash, gifts and donations, while Sweatcoin pays in an in-app currency and says you cannot cash it out to PayPal or a bank. Whether this counts as pay depends on what you want the reward to be: gift cards, cash out, or marketplace offers. Each app below suits a different answer, and none of them is the best choice for everyone.

## The shortlist

### Sweatcoin

A step-counting app that converts verified steps into Sweatcoins, an in-app currency you spend in its marketplace.

- Link: https://sweatco.in/
- Free tier: yes. Sweatcoin's homepage invites you to download the app for free, and its plans page lists a Premium plan with a 7 day free trial.
- Paid from: not checked (Premium has a 7 day free trial; Sweatcoin's help page says to check the app for current pricing, so no price is verified)
- Best at: Walking for marketplace offers, challenges and vouchers, with a free download and a Premium plan.
- The catch: Sweatcoin says it is not possible to cash out sweatcoins via PayPal or bank transfer; the only route to real money is buying a PayPal or Amazon voucher from its auctions.
- Platforms: ios, android

### Winwalk

A free step counter that gives coins for steps, which you exchange for gift cards.

- Link: https://winwalk.club/
- Free tier: yes. Listed as Free on the App Store; the Android page calls it a free walking tracker.
- Paid from: not checked (no paid plan stated on the pages we read)
- Best at: A simple, stated rate: 1 coin for every 100 steps, up to 100 coins a day, redeemed for gift cards from retailers such as Amazon and Walmart.
- The catch: The coin value of a gift card is not stated on the pages we read. The App Store listing says it is available in select countries and that a VPN or multiple accounts may result in suspension.
- Platforms: ios, android

### WeWard

A walking rewards app that converts steps into cash, gifts and donations, with challenges and sweepstakes.

- Link: https://weward.fr/
- Free tier: yes. Listed as Free with In-App Purchases on the App Store.
- Paid from: not checked (in-app purchase prices are not stated on the pages we read)
- Best at: The widest list of ways to take rewards: PayPal or Venmo cash out, gifts from over 100 brands, and charity donations.
- The catch: Neither page we read states how many steps earn how much, or any cash out minimum. The App Store listing shows in-app purchases.
- Platforms: ios, android

## How they compare

### If you want a clear, stated earning rate
Winwalk states its rate. Its Android page says you get 1 coin for every 100 steps, up to 100 coins a day, and its App Store listing gives the same 1 coin for every 100 steps. Coins are redeemable for gift cards from retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. That gives you a rate you can do sums with. The App Store lists Winwalk as Free, and its Android page calls it a free walking tracker.

The pages we read do not say how many coins a gift card costs, so you can see what you earn but not what it buys. The cap of 100 coins matches 10,000 steps, so walking further than that earns no extra coins. That suits you if you would reach that number anyway.

### If you want the option of cash out
WeWard is the only one of the three whose website lists cash out through PayPal or Venmo. It also lists gifts from over 100 brands and charity donations, so it has the widest list of ways to take a reward. The App Store lists it as Free with In-App Purchases.

Neither page we read states how many steps earn how much, or any minimum before you can cash out, so the exchange rate is not verified. The App Store listing shows in-app purchases, and their prices are not stated on the pages we read.

### If you want a marketplace of offers and challenges
Sweatcoin's homepage says it has been the No.1 app overall in over 70 countries on iOS and Android, and that you can spend sweatcoins on gadgets, digital subscriptions, travel vouchers or crypto. The homepage invites you to download it for free, and its plans page lists a Premium plan with a 7 day free trial.

Sweatcoin says it is not possible to cash out sweatcoins via PayPal or bank transfer. The only route to real money it names is buying a PayPal or Amazon voucher from its auctions. At its stated rate, 10,000 steps a day earns 9.5 sweatcoins, and its algorithm discounts shakes and bumps from your device.

### Trade-offs, and when paying is worth it
Winwalk gives you a known rate and gift cards. WeWard gives you the most ways to take a reward and the least information on rates. Sweatcoin gives you a marketplace you spend in, but no cash out.

Paid options are the least clear part. Sweatcoin Premium has a 7 day free trial and a fair use limit of 100 sweatcoins a day, but its help page gives no price, so check the app before you pay. Winwalk shows no paid plan on the pages we read. WeWard's in-app purchase prices are not stated.

## What to watch for

Sweatcoin's Sweat Wallet crypto app and the SWEAT token, as they exist today, end on 30 December 2026 per The Sweat Foundation announcement. Sweatcoin itself continues. If crypto is your reason for using it, that part is changing.

Winwalk's App Store listing says it is available in select countries, and that a VPN or multiple accounts may result in suspension. Check your country before relying on it.

Sweatcoin's cash out page says its PayPal and Amazon vouchers feature regularly in its auctions, so what you can get depends on what is on offer at the time.

## How we checked

On 2026-10-09 we read Sweatcoin's homepage and help centre pages on steps, plans, cashing out, countries and Sweat Wallet, Winwalk's Android page and App Store listing, and WeWard's website and App Store listing. Achievement's site did not give us a readable page, so it is not listed. Earnings are described only as the vendors state them. Nothing was tested hands-on.

## If none of these fit

If you only want a free step counter, the pedometer built into your phone's health app counts steps without any reward scheme. Rewards apps all depend on advertising or partner offers, so treat them as small perks rather than income. We have not tested any of them hands-on, so the figures here are the vendors' own.
