# Is there an app that can humanize ai text?

**Answer: yes.** Yes, several apps rewrite AI text to sound more natural, and some have a free tier. Grammarly, for one, says its tool is not intended to bypass AI detectors. (Source: [Grammarly: Free AI Humanizer](https://www.grammarly.com/ai-humanizer))

Yes, several apps rewrite AI text so it sounds more natural, and some of them have a free tier. Grammarly, for one, says its tool is not intended to bypass AI detectors. Which one suits you depends on what you're after, and what you're willing to give up for it.

## The shortlist

Ours: made by the same studio that runs this site.

### Grammarly AI Humanizer

A free web tool that rewrites AI-generated text to sound more natural, keeping the meaning.

- Link: https://www.grammarly.com/ai-humanizer
- Free tier: yes. The basic web tool is free; a free Grammarly account unlocks the Humanizer agent with custom voice profiles, per the vendor page.
- Paid from: not checked (not verified: Grammarly Pro price not checked)
- Best at: Being free to try on the web, with a custom voice option once you have a free account.
- The catch: Grammarly says plainly: "This tool is not intended to bypass AI detectors." Full functionality needs a paid Grammarly Pro subscription.
- Platforms: web, chrome, ios, android, desktop
- Source: [Grammarly: Free AI Humanizer](https://www.grammarly.com/ai-humanizer)

### QuillBot AI Humanizer

A humaniser that smooths stiff phrasing and repetitive rhythm in AI drafts, in several languages and four English dialects (US, UK, AU, CA).

- Link: https://quillbot.com/ai-humanizer
- Free tier: yes. Humanize up to 100 words, limited usage, on the free plan (Premium page).
- Paid from: $8.33 per month (billed annually) (checked 2026-10-02; USD, Premium plan)
- Best at: Fast rewrites in UK English, with an extension for ChatGPT and Gemini on Premium.
- The catch: The free plan humanises only up to 100 words with limited usage. QuillBot's own page says to follow your institution's AI guidelines and that passing off someone else's idea as your own, even reworded, is unethical.
- Platforms: web, apps, browser extension

### Undetectable AI

A paid humaniser sold on making AI text pass AI detection, with a money-back guarantee if the output is flagged.

- Link: https://undetectable.ai/pricing
- Free tier: yes. A trial limited to 250 words; paid activation needed for more.
- Paid from: $5 per month billed annually ($60 a year), or $9.99 month to month, for 10,000 words a month (checked 2026-10-02; USD)
- Best at: A clear monthly word allowance on a cheap plan: 10,000 words a month.
- The catch: The free trial is limited to 250 words. It is sold on beating detectors, and universities such as Sheffield treat passing off AI content as your own as academic misconduct.
- Platforms: web, api
- Source: [Undetectable AI: pricing](https://undetectable.ai/pricing)

### StealthGPT

A humaniser and writer marketed for bypassing AI detection, with Academic and other tones.

- Link: https://www.stealthgpt.ai/feature/ai-humanizer
- Free tier: yes. The vendor page mentions a free trial without stating limits.
- Paid from: not checked (not verified: pricing page blocked automated access on 2026-10-02)
- Best at: Offering many extras (writer, detector, Chrome extension) alongside the humaniser.
- The catch: Its pages market it as making text "undetectable", including for essays, which universities such as Sheffield treat as misconduct if submitted as your own work. Detector-passing claims are the vendor's own.
- Platforms: web, chrome
- Source: [StealthGPT: AI Humanizer](https://www.stealthgpt.ai/feature/ai-humanizer)

### ScriptGrain humaniser (ours)

Measures the habits that read as machine-written (uniform sentence length, stock phrases) and rewrites toward natural variation. The humaniser aims at "human"; its separate polish step aims at your own measured voice.

- Link: https://scriptgrain.com/humanize-ai-writing
- Free tier: yes. Free plan: one voice profile, one writing analysis and one free draft; humanise uses credits on paid plans (£12 a month and up).
- Paid from: £12 per month (Writer; £115 a year) (checked 2026-10-02; GBP including VAT)
- Best at: Showing why text reads as machine-written, with a before-and-after score on up to three passes.
- The catch: It says beating detectors "is not the promise" and that detectors are unreliable in both directions. Paid plans only for humanising, and a voice profile needs samples of your own writing.
- Platforms: web, api

## How they compare

### If you want to try it free on the web
Grammarly AI Humanizer is free to try on the web. The basic tool rewrites AI-generated text to sound more natural while keeping the meaning, and a free Grammarly account unlocks the Humanizer agent with custom voice profiles, per the vendor page.

The catch is what Grammarly says about itself: "This tool is not intended to bypass AI detectors." So if you want a smoother rewrite, fine. If you want to beat a detector, Grammarly says plainly that's not what it's for. Full functionality also needs a paid Grammarly Pro subscription, and we didn't check that price.

### If you write in UK English
QuillBot AI Humanizer suits you, because it supports four English dialects (US, UK, AU, CA) as well as several other languages. It smooths stiff phrasing and repetitive rhythm, and there's an extension for ChatGPT and Gemini on Premium.

The cost is the free plan, which humanises only up to 100 words with limited usage. That's about a paragraph. Premium is $8.33 per month, billed annually, in US dollars. QuillBot's own page also says to follow your institution's AI guidelines, and that passing off someone else's idea as your own, even reworded, is unethical.

### If you want a clear monthly word allowance on a cheap plan
Undetectable AI states one plainly. Its cheapest plan is $5 a month billed annually ($60 a year), or $9.99 month to month, for 10,000 words a month. The free trial, though, is limited to 250 words, so you won't get far before paying.

What you give up is mostly about what it's for. It's sold on passing AI detection, with a money-back guarantee if the output gets flagged, and that's a very different pitch from Grammarly's. If you only want volume and a cleaner read, you're paying for a promise you may not need.

### If you want a rewrite measured against your own voice
ScriptGrain's humaniser, which is ours, measures the habits that read as machine-written, such as uniform sentence length and stock phrases, and rewrites toward natural variation, with a before-and-after score on up to three passes. The humaniser aims at "human"; its separate polish step moves a draft toward a voice profile built from your own writing.

You give up convenience. Humanising on ScriptGrain, which is ours, is on paid plans only, from £12 per month (£115 a year). The free plan gives you one voice profile, one writing analysis and one free draft, and a voice profile needs samples of your own writing. ScriptGrain's own page (ours) also says beating detectors "is not the promise".

### When paying is worth it
Free tiers are limited: QuillBot gives you 100 words with limited usage, Undetectable AI's trial gives you 250, and Grammarly keeps full functionality for Pro.

Paying makes most sense when volume is the problem. Undetectable AI's cheapest plan is $5 a month billed annually ($60 a year), or $9.99 month to month, for 10,000 words a month. We did not verify Grammarly Pro's price. If volume isn't your problem, the free options may be enough.

## What to watch for

The University of Sheffield says attempts to pass off content as your own count as academic misconduct and may lead to action being taken. Read that twice if any of this is for coursework.

StealthGPT's pages market it as making text "undetectable", essays included, and its detector-passing claims are the vendor's own. Its pricing page blocked our automated access, so we couldn't verify its price. Undetectable AI is sold on passing detection too.

Then there are the detectors themselves. ScriptGrain, which is ours, says they're unreliable in both directions. So a "pass" proves less than you'd hope, and a "flag" proves less than you'd fear.

## How we checked

On 2 October 2026 we read the vendor pages listed under sources: Grammarly's humaniser page, QuillBot's humaniser and Premium pages, Undetectable AI's pricing page, StealthGPT's humaniser and home pages, the humanise and pricing pages for ScriptGrain, which is ours, and the University of Sheffield's AI guidance. StealthGPT's pricing page blocked automated access, so its price is not verified. We did not hands-on test any of these tools.

## If none of these fit

The manual way is to rewrite the draft yourself. ScriptGrain, which is ours, says on its own page what detectors measure: uniform sentence length, symmetrical hedging and stock phrases such as "delve" and "it's worth noting". If it's for study, check your university's rules first: Sheffield says attempts to pass off content as your own count as academic misconduct.

## Questions people ask

### Will a humaniser make AI text undetectable?

No vendor here can promise it. Grammarly says its tool is not intended to bypass AI detectors, and ScriptGrain (ours) says detectors are unreliable in both directions. Undetectable AI and StealthGPT market themselves on passing detectors, which is their own claim.

### Is it allowed to use a humaniser on coursework?

Check your institution's rules. The University of Sheffield says attempts to pass off content as your own count as academic misconduct and may lead to action being taken. QuillBot's page also tells users to follow their institution's AI guidelines.

### Is there a free AI humaniser?

Yes, in part. Grammarly's web tool is free, QuillBot's free plan covers up to 100 words with limited usage, and Undetectable AI's trial is limited to 250 words.

### Can a humaniser write in my own voice?

ScriptGrain's humaniser aims at "human", not at you; its polish step moves a draft toward a voice profile built from your own writing, measured on 45 reference points. Grammarly's free account also offers custom voice profiles in its Humanizer agent.
