# Is there an ai that can create videos?

**Answer: yes.** Yes. Runway, Google's Gemini Omni (which replaces Veo in the Gemini app), Pika and Luma all generate video from text or images, and Runway has a $0 plan. Google's is paid only. (Source: [Runway pricing](https://runway.com/pricing))

Yes, there are several AIs that can create videos. You type a prompt or hand over some images, and a short clip comes back. What changes from one to the next is the price, the catches, and who each one suits.

## The shortlist

Ours: made by the same studio that runs this site.

### Runway

AI video and image generator with a web editor and several video models.

- Link: https://runway.com/
- Free tier: yes. $0 plan with 125 one-time credits and 5GB storage, per Runway's pricing page.
- Paid from: $12 per month (billed annually), Standard plan (checked 2026-10-02; $15 per month if billed monthly)
- Best at: Generating video clips with a choice of its own and other models on one plan.
- The catch: The free plan gives 125 one-time credits, not a monthly allowance, and prices are in US dollars only.
- Platforms: web
- Source: [Runway pricing](https://runway.com/pricing)

### Google Gemini (Gemini Omni)

Video generation inside the Gemini app: text or photos to 10-second clips, with audio.

- Link: https://gemini.google/overview/video-generation/
- Free tier: no. No free access for general users, per Google's page; students can unlock it free for one year, a promotion the page says expires soon.
- Paid from: £4.49 per month (Google AI Plus) (checked 2026-10-02; Plus gives 200 Flow credits, Pro is £18.99 per month with 1,000)
- Best at: Turning up to five photos into a short video, and editing by conversation.
- The catch: Needs a paid Google AI plan (students get a free year, a promotion Google's page says expires soon); the page says Gemini Omni replaces Veo in the Gemini app, so older Veo guides may be out of date.

### Pika

AI video generator on the web, text and images to short clips.

- Link: https://pika.art/
- Free tier: yes. $0 plan with pack credits only and no watermark, per Pika's pricing page.
- Paid from: $10 per month, Starter (checked 2026-10-02)
- Best at: A no-watermark free plan and a cheap entry paid plan.
- The catch: Commercial use is not included on the Free or Starter plans; it starts on the $35 per month Creator plan.
- Platforms: web
- Source: [Pika pricing](https://pika.art/pricing)

### Luma (Dream Machine and Luma Agents)

Creative workspace that runs Luma and third-party image and video models.

- Link: https://lumalabs.ai/
- Free tier: no. The pricing page lists paid plans only; no free plan shown.
- Paid from: $25 per month (billed annually), Plus (checked 2026-10-02; $30 per month if billed monthly)
- Best at: Choosing between several video models, including partner models, on one credit balance.
- The catch: Cost per second varies widely by model, from 4 credits per second up to 280 with audio, so 10,000 credits go a long way or not far at all. The pricing page lists no free plan.

### Launch Video Maker (ours)

Turns a business website into a short promo video with music, from a site URL.

- Link: https://launchvideomaker.com/
- Free tier: no. No free tier; pay per video.
- Paid from: £9 per video (Short, 15 seconds) (checked 2026-10-02; Reel £29, Bundle £49 (three formats))
- Best at: Promo videos for a business: you approve the facts from your own site, pick a style and music, and get MP4s.
- The catch: Narrow use: it makes promo videos from a business website, not general video from a prompt. Pay per video, with up to 3 free edits per order.

## How they compare

### If you want to try it for free
Runway is one place to start. It has a $0 plan with 125 one-time credits and 5GB of storage, so you can try the web editor and its choice of video models without paying anything.

The catch is in the word "one-time". That's a pot of credits, not a monthly allowance, so once it's gone it's gone. Prices are in US dollars only.

### If you want clips with no watermark
Pika fits here. Its $0 plan includes no monthly credits (you buy credit packs), but clips carry no watermark. Its Starter paid plan is $10 per month.

What you give up is commercial use. It isn't included on Free or Starter, so if the video is for a business, you'd need the $35 per month Creator plan. That's easy to miss, so we come back to it below.

### If you are a student
General users get no free access to Google's Gemini (Gemini Omni). Students, though, can unlock Gemini video free for one year, and Google's page says that promotion expires soon.

It makes 10-second clips with audio from text or photos, and it can turn up to five photos into a short video. You can also edit by conversation. Outside the student offer it needs a paid Google AI plan, from £4.49 per month for Google AI Plus (that gives 200 Flow credits; Pro is £18.99 per month with 1,000).

### If you want to choose between models
Luma (Dream Machine and Luma Agents) is built for this. It runs Luma's own models and third-party image and video models, partner ones included, all on one credit balance. So you can try different models without juggling accounts.

The price of that freedom is that the cost is hard to predict. It varies a lot by model, from 4 credits per second up to 280 with audio, so 10,000 credits go a long way or not far at all. The pricing page lists no free plan either, and paid starts at $25 per month billed annually ($30 if billed monthly).

### If you only need a promo video for a business
Launch Video Maker, which is our own tool, does exactly one job. You give it your website address, approve the facts from your own site, pick a style and music, and get MP4s back. Our own pricing is £9 per video for the 15-second Short, with up to 3 free edits per order, and there is no free tier.

It's narrow, though. It makes promo videos from a business website, not general video from a prompt, so for anything else, look at the tools above.

### When paying is worth it
Probably after you've used up a free allowance and found you want more. Runway's Standard plan is $12 per month billed annually, or $15 if you pay monthly. It makes sense once those 125 one-time credits have run out and you're still making clips.

## What to watch for

Pika's commercial use isn't included on the Free or Starter plans. It starts on the $35 per month Creator plan, so a cheap plan and a business video don't mix.

And Gemini Omni replaces Veo in the Gemini app. Older Veo guides may be out of date, so check which model a guide is describing before you follow it step by step.

## How we checked

On 2026-10-02 we read the Runway, Pika and Luma pricing pages, Google's Gemini video-generation page and its UK (GBP) plans page, and the page for our own Launch Video Maker. Nothing was tested hands-on, so this is what the pages say, not how the clips look. The Sora shutdown comes from OpenAI's own help centre and API deprecations page.

## If none of these fit

OpenAI's Sora app isn't a current option. OpenAI says the Sora web and app experiences ended on 26 April 2026 and the Sora API was removed on 24 September 2026, so we've left it out.

If you only want a promo video for a business, Launch Video Maker (ours) does that one job from your website, from £9 a video (£49 for a three-format bundle). For editing footage you already have, see the editing page.
