Gamma exports PowerPoint files even on its free plan, and Microsoft Copilot, Beautiful.ai, Canva and Google Slides with Gemini can all start a deck from a prompt. (Source: [Gamma help: exporting](https://help.gamma.app/en/articles/8022861-what-s-the-easiest-way-to-export-my-gamma)) Yes, there is. Several tools will build a presentation from a text prompt, and Gamma will hand you a PowerPoint file even on its free plan. What differs is what each does well and what you give up to get it. ## The shortlist ### Gamma AI tool that builds a presentation from a text prompt. - Link: https://gamma.app/ - Free tier: yes. Roughly 400 credits on the free plan, per Gamma's guide. - Paid from: not checked (not verified: gamma.app/pricing blocked our fetch on 2026-10-02) - Best at: Exports to PDF, PowerPoint (PPTX) and PNG on every plan, including free. - The catch: Free PDF and PowerPoint exports carry a "Made by Gamma" badge, and its card-based layout can need small fixes after exporting to PowerPoint. - Platforms: web - Source: [Gamma help: exporting](https://help.gamma.app/en/articles/8022861-what-s-the-easiest-way-to-export-my-gamma) ### Beautiful.ai Presentation maker with AI content generation and smart slide layouts. - Link: https://www.beautiful.ai/ - Free tier: no. 14-day free trial, credit card required. - Paid from: $14.50 per month (Pro, billed annually) (checked 2026-10-02; USD; $45 for a one-off month of Pro) - Best at: Unlimited AI content generation and PowerPoint import and export on all plans. - The catch: No free plan: it offers a 14-day trial that needs a credit card, then charges automatically unless cancelled. - Platforms: web - Source: [Beautiful.ai pricing](https://www.beautiful.ai/pricing) ### Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint AI assistant built into PowerPoint that helps create and edit slides from a description. - Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/powerpoint - Free tier: no. PowerPoint for the web is free, with basic templates but without advanced Copilot features. - Paid from: £84.99 per year (Microsoft 365 Personal) (checked 2026-10-02; GBP; Family £104.99 a year) - Best at: Working inside PowerPoint itself, so the file is already a PowerPoint deck. - The catch: Needs a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription; usage limits apply and the AI features cannot be shared. PowerPoint for the web is free but without the advanced Copilot features. - Platforms: web, windows, mac, ios, android - Source: [Microsoft PowerPoint (UK)](https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/powerpoint) ### Canva Design tool with an AI presentation maker. - Link: https://www.canva.com/ai-presentation-maker/ - Free tier: yes. Limited AI uses on Free, per Canva's help centre. - Paid from: not checked (not verified: canva.com pricing blocked our fetch on 2026-10-02) - Best at: Generating a designed deck from a prompt inside Canva's editor. - The catch: Free accounts have a limited number of AI uses (up to 20 standard or premium AI tool uses per Canva's help centre); more needs Canva Pro. - Platforms: web, ios, android - Source: [Canva help: understanding your AI usage](https://www.canva.com/help/ai-access/) ### Google Slides with Gemini Web presentation tool with Gemini, which can create slides from a prompt and Drive content. - Link: https://workspace.google.com/products/slides/ - Free tier: not verified. Not stated on the page we read. - Paid from: not checked (not verified: Gemini plan requirements not stated on the page we read) - Best at: Collaboration, plus importing PowerPoint and Canva presentations. - The catch: The page we read did not say what is free or which Google plans include Gemini in Slides. - Platforms: web, ios, android - Source: [Google Slides](https://workspace.google.com/products/slides/) ## How they compare ### If you want it free Gamma is the place to start. It exports to PDF, PowerPoint (PPTX) and PNG on every plan, free included, and its own guide says the free plan gives you roughly 400 credits. So you can generate a deck and walk away with a real file without paying. The cost is small, but real. Free PDF and PowerPoint exports carry a "Made by Gamma" badge. Its card-based layout can also need small fixes once the file is open in PowerPoint, so look over each slide after exporting. Gamma blocked our fetch of its pricing page, so we can't tell you what its paid plans cost. ### If you need a real PowerPoint file Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint is the obvious fit, because it works inside PowerPoint itself. There's no export step to tidy up after, since the file is already a PowerPoint deck from the first slide. Here's what that costs you. Copilot needs a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, at £84.99 a year or £104.99 a year respectively. Usage limits apply, and the AI features can't be shared with anyone else. PowerPoint for the web is free, with basic templates, but it doesn't have the advanced Copilot features. ### If you want a designed deck from a prompt Canva suits you if looks matter most. Its AI presentation maker generates a designed deck from a prompt inside Canva's editor, so you start with something already styled and keep working on it in the same place. Canva runs on the web, iOS and Android. The limit is on the AI side. Free accounts get up to 20 standard or premium AI tool uses, according to Canva's help centre, and more than that needs Canva Pro. We couldn't read Canva's pricing page, so we can't tell you what Pro costs. ### If you work in a team Google Slides with Gemini is built for collaboration. Gemini can create slides from a prompt and from Drive content, and Slides will import PowerPoint and Canva presentations, so people who started elsewhere can still join in. Google Slides runs on the web, iOS and Android. The catch is a gap in what we know. The page we read didn't say what is free or which Google plans include Gemini in Slides, so check your own account before you plan around it. ### When paying is worth it If you work in PowerPoint and want the AI inside it, a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription is the route, at £84.99 or £104.99 a year, because the free web version lacks the advanced Copilot features. Beautiful.ai has no free plan at all: it offers unlimited AI content generation, plus PowerPoint import and export, on all plans, from $14.50 a month billed annually. If you'd rather keep it free, Gamma and Canva both have free plans, within their limits. ## What to watch for Beautiful.ai's 14-day trial needs a credit card, then charges automatically unless you cancel. Pro is $14.50 a month billed annually, or $45 for a one-off month, so cancel before the trial ends if you don't want to pay. Canva's free AI uses stop at 20, and carrying on means Canva Pro. Copilot's AI features can't be shared, which matters if you were hoping one subscription would cover a small group. And with Google Slides, the unanswered question about which plans include Gemini is worth settling before you commit a project to it. ## How we checked On 2026-10-02 we read Beautiful.ai's pricing page, Microsoft's UK PowerPoint page and the Google Slides page. Gamma and Canva blocked our fetch of their own pricing pages, so their free-plan facts come from Gamma's help and guide pages and Canva's help centre as shown in search results, and no price is given. Nothing was tested hands-on. ## If none of these fit If you would rather outline it yourself first, write the slide titles and the story of the deck by hand, and any of these tools can then lay it out for you. ## Also typed as - is there an ai that can generate powerpoint slides - is there an ai that can make a powerpoint presentation - is there an ai that can make powerpoint presentations - is there an ai that makes powerpoint presentations - is there an ai tool that can create powerpoint presentations ## Related questions - [Is there an ai that can create videos?](https://isthereathing.com/an-ai-that-can-create-videos/) - [Is there an ai that can write in my voice?](https://isthereathing.com/an-ai-that-can-write-in-my-voice/) - [Is there an ai that can help me write a book?](https://isthereathing.com/an-ai-that-can-help-me-write-a-book/) ## Sources - [Gamma help: exporting](https://help.gamma.app/en/articles/8022861-what-s-the-easiest-way-to-export-my-gamma) (checked 2026-10-02) - [Gamma guide: choosing an AI presentation tool](https://gamma.app/explore/content/guides/guide-to-choosing-the-best-ai-presentation-tool) (checked 2026-10-02) - [Beautiful.ai pricing](https://www.beautiful.ai/pricing) (checked 2026-10-02) - [Microsoft PowerPoint (UK)](https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/powerpoint) (checked 2026-10-02) - [Canva help: understanding your AI usage](https://www.canva.com/help/ai-access/) (checked 2026-10-02) - [Google Slides](https://workspace.google.com/products/slides/) (checked 2026-10-02) ## Questions people ask ### Can I get a PowerPoint file out of Gamma?
